Why this exists

I used to be frightened of leading the prayer.

Not because I did not know the surahs. I knew them. I would still stumble in front of everyone, because I never made time to revise.

The teacher I had before was one of those men you could not ask a question. Ask him something and he took it as an insult. Months went by and I was stuck on the same surah.

When I finally walked into a Qur'an centre, I almost turned around at the door. My Arabic was weak. I am not Arab. I was sure I would be the odd one out and everyone would see it. I said Bismillah and went in anyway.

Before you ask
